Motorhome or campervan rental is a popular method of exploring New Zealand. It
has the advantage of providing for both transport and accommodation needs.
There are several companies based in the main centres that offer a variety of
rental options, from 2 berth to 6 berth and with varying onboard facilities,
which can include dining facilities, kitchen, shower and toilet. Rates vary
widely depending on size, and also from season to season. Expect to pay around
NZ$70 per day in the low season for a 2 berth to around NZ$290 a day for a 6
berth in the high season. There are an abundance of camping grounds and holiday
parks throughout New Zealand where motorhomes can park for the night, often in
beautiful locations near rivers, lakes and beaches. Many offer serviced sites
where motorhomes can hook up to electricity, even laundry facilities,
telephones, swimming pools and play areas for children.
