New Zealand Wine
New Zealand produces some excellent wines and has approximately 400 wineries.
Its main wine producing areas are Marlborough, Nelson, Canterbury and Central
Otago in the South Island, and Martinborough, Gisborne, Hawke’s Bay and
Auckland in the North Island.
Many of the wineries of these regions welcome visitors to sample, and/or buy,
the wines they produce. Several also offer guided tours of the winery, and some
have restaurants serving excellent food to complement their wines. Local
companies offer tours of a selection of wineries in the region.
